Here’s what happens if I don’t have a plan in place. I get started on something I’m excited about , then I’ll think about a new post or idea for my blog , and then I’ll start writing like a maniac.

I find that when I create batch content, it allows my brain to focus on individual tasks for three solid weeks at a time instead of fretting over the next post or jumping to the next shiny thing.
So the first thing I do is get myself organized. I use my WordPress dashboard to first organize my draft thoughts and then place them into the calendar by dragging and dropping them into the spot I think makes the most sense.
Because I use themes to roll out my content each month, I can easily come up with topics to write about that fit those themes naturally. For instance, if you write about family life as a niche, you might choose going back to school as a theme for the month.
Then you can dig into this a little further and create four blog topics to write about. This might be getting the kids prepared for their first week of school, quick and healthy lunches, helping your kids to transition to a new school, how to stay organized in the mornings etc.
Doing this makes it easy to plan out content that makes sense to your blog and your readers.
Never be Without Content
Google loves consistency in posting. If you go crazy and post 20 posts in one month and then nothing for 6 months, you will be seen as inconsistent.
Google algorithms would rather you post once a week for 20 weeks and be consistent. So it’s really important to have a constant flow of new material coming out of your blog on a regular basis.
By using batch content creation, you can make sure that you are posting consistently and you will have an overview of what you are going to be posting about in the future.

I have read numerous reports that show that creating themed content, or content that is related over a period of time is great for ranking better in Google.
The reason- Google likes to find content that shows that the writer has some authority or has a good understanding of what they are writing. If you are consistently writing about similar topics, Google will see you as an authority in your niche and rank you higher than someone who is posting all over the place.
This is another reason why defining your niche early on may be beneficial to growing your blog faster and creating more organic traffic.

Aside from giving my brain time to adjust and think straight, creating batch content allows more time for specific marketing and other projects.
