Start creating content in batches. Batching content allows you to create multiple posts over a period of time. The process may seem overwhelming at first, but I guarantee once you get the hang of it, it will become part of your blogging mainstay.

I’ve even got a handy free workbook and emailed mini-course to help you figure this all out. You can snag it at the end of this post!

Creating blogging batch content is an amazing strategy that will help you gain organic traffic, increase your productivity and help you to stay sane!

Help You to Organize Your Content Ideas More Effectively

Here’s what happens if I don’t have a plan in place. I get started on something I’m excited about , then I’ll think about a new post or idea for my blog ,  and then I’ll start writing like a maniac.

But, if you are anything like me, you’ll be working along and then something “shiny” will set your mind into a whole different tailspin (and you were probably already on one to begin with lol).

I find that when I create batch content, it allows my brain to focus on individual tasks for three solid weeks at a time instead of fretting over the next post or jumping to the next shiny thing.

switch themes to Astra website in a weekend launch plan

So the first thing I do is get myself organized. I use my WordPress dashboard to first organize my draft thoughts and then place them into the calendar by dragging and dropping them into the spot I think makes the most sense.

Tutorial on Using the WordPress Editorial Calendar for Batch Content Creation

Because I use themes to roll out my content each month, I can easily come up with topics to write about that fit those themes naturally. For instance, if you write about family life as a niche, you might choose going back to school as a theme for the month.

Then you can dig into this a little further and create four blog topics to write about. This might be getting the kids prepared for their first week of school, quick and healthy lunches, helping your kids to transition to a new school, how to stay organized in the mornings etc.

Doing this makes it easy to plan out content that makes sense to your blog and your readers.

Never be Without Content

Google loves consistency in posting. If you go crazy and post 20 posts in one month and then nothing for 6 months, you will be seen as inconsistent.

Google algorithms would rather you post once a week for 20 weeks and be consistent. So it’s really important to have a constant flow of new material coming out of your blog on a regular basis.

By using batch content creation, you can make sure that you are posting consistently and you will have an overview of what you are going to be posting about in the future.

Creating Batch Content is Great for SEO

Planning out your post content for a month at a time will help you to rank higher in Google SEO.

I have read numerous reports that show that creating themed content, or content that is related over a period of time is great for ranking better in Google.

The reason- Google likes to find content that shows that the writer has some authority or has a good understanding of what they are writing. If you are consistently writing about similar topics, Google will see you as an authority in your niche and rank you higher than someone who is posting all over the place.

This is another reason why defining your niche early on may be beneficial to growing your blog faster and creating more organic traffic.

Increase Time Management & Productivity

Aside from giving my brain time to adjust and think straight, creating batch content allows more time for specific marketing and other projects.

Once I have my month of content ready to roll, I use Coschedule to schedule all of my social shares in place, including adding it to evergreen content requeue so that it will share for months to come.

All I need to do is daily social sharing and marketing for each post, which only takes about 20 minutes each day. This frees up my time to do other things like work on my own saleable content and learning new ways to improve my blog through courses.

By the time it’s time to start another round, I feel refreshed and ready to write new content.

Creates Easy Opportunities for Internal Links

Have you ever written a post and then realised that you don’t know what other related content you have in your blog to link to? Internal links are really important and you should be using 3-4 of them within each posts.

Internal links create an opportunity for you to share with your readers and with Google that you are an authority on this subject. This can also help your SEO as you will rank higher for keywords and gain more traffic.

If you have set up a schedule of related posts, all you need to figure out is the first one. Because each should build on the last, it’s easy to link back to others, keeping readers interested in your content and hanging around longer.

Can Help Segue Into a Killer Opt-in

My goal at the end of each set of posts is to be able to create a desireable opt in by combining the posts into a guide, workbook or mini-ebook on that particular topic.

It provides value for my readers, content for my resource library and builds credibility as an authority in my niche. I always believe in underpromising and overdelivering whenever I can.

Many times, I can use bits and pieces compiled from what I have already written to create a great content upgrade. A great example of this is my Pin Like a Pro guide which was compiled from a series that was written all about Pinterest!

  1. OMG you described me perfectly!
I love the tips you shared here! I recently listen to a podcast that suggested creating batch content, so I was starting to form a plan for that but did not have a good way to schedule! I’m super excited for that editorial calendar!
I also did not realize that there were so many benefits to creating batch content.
Thanks for all the great info ? Signing up for your mini course!

  3. This is a great post! I’ve been struggling with content creation with a busy schedule, and so I decided to start doing this recently. I’m still working on my first set of posts. I feel like it will help me get more regular with my content, as you mentioned it really takes off the pressure of coming up with something totally new every week. I can do the research for a month’s posts and make 3-4 posts out of it, focusing on one topic as a whole. Let’s see how it works for me.

    1. Yes! When I sit down and batch content, I feel like the pressure is off for sure. You’ll have to let me know how your batch content goes and what you thought of the whole process!
